After numerous problems with my i8510 I have finally got the case escalated at Samsung.
Recent problems have arisen whilst using Bluetooth handsfree. Contacts go missing and cannot be restored without rebooting your phone. Some of you may have not even noticed the fault, until you receive a call from someone in your phonebook and only the number is displayed and not their name, after you have disconnected from your bluetooth handsfree.
This fault is a S60 Symbian 3rd Edition software issue and not a Samsung issue. Apparently Nokia N96 users are having the same issue and im sure other S60 3rd edition users are having the same trouble too.
The issue has been reported to Symbian and a fix should be available by february at the earliest.
As far as firmware updates go, Samsung have told me that there are no plans for over the air or updating on your pc. It will only be done at service centres ONLY.
So sit and wait and see what happens.
Not the best of information im afraid, but a bit of an update on whats happening.
Thanks to Stuart at Samsung for all your help.

And Samsung is trying to beat Nokia N-series!!! i8210 best phone ever!!!
Support is worst support of all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Samsung you are going down unless you do not do something with OTA support for at least i8510!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah, i reported this to them and on here about a month ago.. Good to know they are still aware of it... Just so you know, if you go into a new text, then click send, and look at your contacts that way, then exit the message bcak to your main screen, you normal contacts will be back! 😊
Doesnt last for long if you're constantly in and out your car like me though!
