Right, firstly apologies for posting a new thread on this topic, but i think its a critical issue - the battery!
i have tweaked the settings so much on the i8510, but it still makes no difference - im struggling to get a full days worth of battery with moderate use. I have:
- switched off auto pivot;
- set packet data to when needed;
- switched off the 3g/ gsm dual mode;
- im running three additional programs in the background: roadsync, jbak taskman (like handy taskman) and smart settings;
- switched off video sharing;
- switched power saving mode on;
- switched off auto brightness - i have set it to permanent low'ish light;
- switched off auto wifi scanning, bluetooth and gps;
- set operator selection to manual;
- am using the default samsung theme (no fancy graphics).
- my first charge was about 7 hours. my usual charge period is about 6 hours per day.
From 8am in the morning to 2pm, my battery is missing three bars - does this sound strange? i hear some people saying they can get 48 hours of battery with moderate/ low use - do you think my battery is faulty? i really dont think my will last for 2 days given this rate.
PLEASE HELP! thanks.
I haven't managed more then 20 hours either yet. I do have it on max brightness. I also have a nice theme, but i can't imagine that would make a difference. I have all scanning stuff on off, and use GSM instead of 3G.
I have the feeling it's getting slightly better, then a couple of days ago, but battery life is certainly still very poor.
I find it also only lasts a day or so.
I charged it yesterday and it was done at 5pm, I then went out and got drunk and did a few videos last night, been at work with it playing music all day and its now on 3 bars, which is not bad actually :/
Not bad at all, mine is getting better all the time as The Beatles would say... Gotta do it, recharge it, do it again... as she would say! Cheers.
would be good to hear from the people who have a decent run run with the battery - are the less fortunate folks not setting up the phone properly or is it a faulty battery!?
Mine around 12-15hours max use,full settings!
Same here, battery getting worse.
Have emailed Samsung today so will have to wait and see what they say (though you can't select the i8510 as the phone you want to query on the email form!)
Well, currently mine just pass the 24 hr mark, with 5 bars left. So, it should easily do 48.
I'm not a heavy user, though.
I did more then 24 hrs today too, for the first time.
Btw, I actually don;t mind the battery life! As long as I get pure power in return, which I do.
thanks for the replies folks.
Ive decided to run down the battery to nil and i have just completed an 18 hour charge...will report back if that makes a difference.
on another note, I think certain firmware versions are causing problems with the battery i.e. there are too many processes running in the background which is killing the battery...other firmwares probably dont run as much and therefore battery lasts longer....what do you think?
there is another thread on here which asks what firmware versions we're running and how long the battery lasts....i think this is very useful, so would be great to get more people to reply!
Just phoned Samsung and their sending me a new battery, so I'll have to wait and see if this helps.

hope it makes a difference......seems very strange that some people can use the phone for a couple of days without any heavy usage....it therefore must be faulty battery.....the innov8 is a fab phone, but not worth it if you cant use it for a day!
Mine lasts 2 days with the following settings:
- optical joystick on
- packet data when available;
- high speed packet access enabled;
- wireless scanning never;
- bluetooth permanently on and shown to all;
- network in dual mode
- im running no additional programs in the background:
- power saving mode is off;
- auto brightness is on
- set operator selection to automatic;
- I am using the elegance noire theme (some fancy graphics).
- my first charge was from empty to full in 7 or so hours (i leave it to charge overnight every other night while i sleep and its full in the morning. it is often not completely empty when i charge it).
