Some questions

Hello everyone.

I got my N95 8 gig couple of days ago, and loving it. it is simply one of the best phones ive had.

I'm now getting to that point where i'm interested in making the most out of the n95 capabilities, and need some questions answered.

a little background info..

v20.2.005
30-04-08
rm 421
nokia n95 (a6.02)

running windows VISTA and hating every second of it

alright heres what i would like to do, and please let me know whether this is a good idea or bad idea.

i'm interested in upgrading the firmware to Version 30.0.018 (N95 8GB FIRMWARE) with the product code of 0549487 - EURO1 (good idea/bad???) i would like the some of the features with the accelerometor and all.

but before that i have the issue of connecting the phone to the laptop. i cannot get regular usb connectivity, only sometimes and ive reinstalled and everything. for some reason my phone and laptop seem to be better paired via bluetooth, which i don't have a problem with unless i'm trying to change the product code.. which i understand that i need the usb for (true????). i found this by going to menu>tools>sync>select pc suite>options>edit sync profile>connection settings>data bearer= bluetooth

sometime have connectivity sometimes and when i do, i can explore the devise and see my recent pictures etc thru the windows file managers. while connected i tried using the nemisis service and it doesn't recognize the phone. ive tried to mess with the drivers but this is where i'm really LOST. i have the f1 upgrade utility, but it seems to do nothing, gives me the error, 'Unable to open F1 device!' and ive searched for the driver on my hardrive and nothing. not be mistaken the program works and runs fine, and ive done this http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum//forum/thread/61604/&highlight=nemisis thinking it might do the trick but no, still nothing.

thanks for the help!

I had a problem getting Nemesis to recognise my handset and change the product code.
In the end I uninstalled Nokia PC Suite, including all cable drivers etc.
I then installed Nemesis and it recognised my phone at last and I was able to change the product code to Euro1.
I then reinstalled Nokia PC Suite on my PC, Vista, and was able to get connectivity via USB and successfully update via Nokia Software Updater.
