E71 problem synchronizing with outlook contacts

4 replies · 11,034 views · Started 27 November 2008

While synchronizing (pc suite) with my outlook contacts (+800) which are organized in sub-folders, only the "unfiled" contacts are copied on the phone.
Can anyone help me to synchronize the contacts keeping the subfolders?
thxs

I think you can only specify one Contacts folder to sync with using PC Suite.

If you need to keep the folders in Outlook you could write a little VB Script tool to copy all contacts (and updates) to a single Contacts folder, and then sync that one.

Could you please give complete details of your issue ???

Type *#0000# on your phone, PC details like Operating system, Service Pack details, Connectivity etc. :con?

Hello, thxs for your reply

I copied all contacts to a new contacts folder and synchronize with that one. This allows to have all numbers on the phone, however without the categories. And while synchronizing I have to reorganize new contacts manually in the sub-folders.
What is VB Script Tool?

VB script is a basic programming language, which lets you add custom functionality to Outlook. It's built-in to all recent versions (press Alt+F11 to open the code window). You can download tons of sample code from the interweb.

Categories should have copied across when you copied the Contacts, unless your "categories" is actually just the sub-folder they appear in.

What you could do is assign a Company name to your Contacts - that gets sync'd. That way the Nokia Content search can find them all - it's a really useful feature, not promoted enough IMO
