Hi been using the N96 for a few weeks now and have noticed that close up shots with the camera will not focus.
When I half press the camera key to auto focus the view finder will flash green as if its trying to focus but the picture quality is always awful.
It doesn't matter which mode I choose beit close up, auto etc. I always get the same result!
Can anyone shed any light on this matter?

Do you have PR1.1 software? What software version does *#0000# show?
You should upgrade to PR1.1 because auto-focus has improved a lot in that release. In addition, you should indeed use close-up mode for very close shots, but don't go closer than ~10cm (4 inches) to your subject!
Yeah latest firmware, gonna re-flash if the problem continues I think
This is a known problem with the N96. Someone did a test comparing the N82 and the N96, and the N96 simply does not focus properly in macro mode. Others have reported the same.
