I've just been reading over on the vodafone forum that Vodafone are advertising the 5800 for release in February next year. They have it on their 'Coming Soon' pages.

I've used these people in the past .. their service is very good
.. their price seems a bit "steep" - I considered getting one but I'm going to wait a few weeks ..
😊
The Nokia 5800 is available in Finland today SIM free for 349
IIRC and Finnish VAT is 22% then that means that Nokia have (almost) hit their €279 + taxes target
(€279 + 22% VAT = 340.38)
Amusingly Carphone Warehouse are listing the 5800 as due in December 2008 but I think we can safely assume that's rubbish 😊

I have to say theres no way in hell Id use one with Vodas firmware on it.
They are incredibly slow to release new ones, if ever.
I wont ever use a phone with network firmwares on again (I like my warranty), so its simfree or third party contract for me.
Nokia's first (new) touch screen OS without Nokias updates? No ta.
Im hoping the price goes down to what Nokia originally said later on, but somehow I doubt it.
Still, its nice to see at least one network has realised what potential this has.
I just hope T-Mobile will be taking this phone, I wonder if CPW will be giving unbranded ones when I got my N95 it was branding free on T-mobile
