Eager to get the BBC iPlayer for my N95 I have learned all about debranding and updated to v30 firmware.
However, frustratingly, I have still not got the iPlayer to work. It starts up fine, but there is no content, i.e. no thumbnails of any TV or radio programmes, just the menu headings (Home TV Radio Search) plus a second row of headings (Help, Contact Us etc.). Clicking on any of these links does nothing.
When the application starts up I choose my home wifi connection, which works fine for web and other apps on the phone.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Matt
I was just coming onto the forum now to report the exact same problem.
I had it installed and it had content and everything, but when I play any video the sound only plays for a second and then it cuts out for two seconds, and this repeats all the way through the programme. So I thought i'd uninstall and reinstall (after a restart) and now I'm getting this problem.
Hey guys I think I have the solution.
Can both of the above posters confirm if the Nokia built in browser functions properly? Does it show any text or images?
Try your BUILT IN browser, not Opera or Skyfire. If your built in browser is messed up, than im certain I know the fix.
Sorry zxon I didnt read your post properly. I think the solution for you is that you have a weak wifi connection. Why dont you load up the video, pause it for a few minutes (To let it load up) and then press play?
But yeah, Im sure I know the solution to the original posters problem.
Thanks for the replies. Yes, my normal nokia browser works fine. No niggles at all.
As for my previous problem, the jumpy video, I thought it might've had something to do with it at first. I'd already tried the pause then play solution with no luck. It even had the same problem when I was in the same room as my router (and the N95 confirmed it had a strong 100% signal on the wifi), and it wasn't always like this either. When I first got the iplayer it worked perfectly.
All of which lead me to think it was the widget that was at fault. Now I have the same problem as mattdowning 😞
Well have you installed anything that shares folders with the core system files? Let me explain. I installed an Audio Quran on my phone, but I had to add some files to the presest 'data' folder. By doing so, I messed up my browser and my iplayer. I had to remove the Audio Quran and the files that I put in the system files to get them working again.
So think carefully. Have you installed any applications that required you to mess with the core system folders?

What version of iPlayer do you have installed?
Last time I checked, ONLY v1.0 works on the N95.
All higher versions show the symptoms you describe.
Hmm that could be why we're experiencing the problem. Do you have a copy of v1.0 or know where we can get it? I presume if we download it directly from the BBC it'll be the newest version.

I came here for the same reason..lol.
I just installed it and got the same problem.. mosh nokia might have v1.0, if u got it to work let me know...i am still trying it figure out this one..hopefully something will come out of it..
edit: damn it i got more menus this time but still dont' work...
Thank you everybody for your replies.
In my case the browser works fine, so I don't think I've got a problem with the built-in browser.
I'd love to get my hands on v1.0 to see if that works any better. I've spent a bit of time Googling but not found a copy. If anybody can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.
Other suggestions still most welcome, of course.
Cheers,
Matt
Wow I found version 1.00!
I've attached it to this post and I'll also attach to the previous post I started about this problem.
I've tested and I've now got BBC iPlayer again!!
When loaded, it says at the top of the screen there's an update available... I'm not clicking it!
Enjoy all!
It works!
Thank you very much Jonathan488 for that copy of Version 1 - it works like a dream.
Thank you to everybody on the thread and I hope it helps anybody else who has the same problem.
Matt
