Nseries 2009? Hmm.....

Nokia's NW 2008 home page is filling out nicely, with video slots, a live video feed and a discussion board. Most intriguingly, the 'Countdown' link is attached a panel branded 'Nseries 2009' - surely this means that there's an Nseries device about to be launched? I was half expecting something in the Eseries line, but maybe Nokia is about to surprise everybody! Am I reading too much into this?

Read on in the full article.

I know AAS (perhaps commendably) resolutely refuses to discuss or even consider rumours floating around the net but some of us don't feel quite so restricted 😉

As such, some of us have known what to expect for some time. Of course there are always surprises and changed details, but yes, various new NSeries are on the way, with some to be announced at MWC. There will certainly be an impressive NSeries touch screen. Whether that is announced today or not I don't know.

The 1st page of the Nokia section in the rumours section of the Forum in the English section on mobile-review.com is always amazingly accurate.

Weve arrived in Barcelona, Spain for Nokia World, a week where Nokia talks to its top customers.

When we got here a Nokia executive met me and bragged that the Internet has no clue what they will announce this week. I asked what about the touch screen cell phone that Ive seen rumors about? He said that no one had gotten it right yet. The announcements are on Wednesday morning (its early Monday morning as I post this) so well have to wait to see what they announce. He told me this is one of the only times he can remember when a big announcement has not leaked. He said that even internally only a handful of people have seen the new device theyll be announcing on Wednesday. Does that tactic sound familiar? It should, and is only one of the reasons why this is Nokias touchiest week.

Well we've already had the E63 officially announced on the 12th of last month and the Sidekick styled E (whose number I forget) so I can't help feeling we're done for E series revelations, unless of course you're refering to the speculation on the Touch Screen Communicator, but I got the feeling Nokia were waiting to see how well the Tube was received before rolling it out to the more discerning business market.

It seems pretty obvious that a new Nseries phone is on its way. My only worry is that it will wind up being a beautiful piece of hardware with an aging OS under the hood. Unless they go with something other than s60 5th edition on the future Nseries phones, i can't see how this wouldn't be the case.

On a completely different subject, can somebody in the comments please explain to me why Nokia is always referred t in the plural? As in the last comment from elaverick "but I got the feeling Nokia were waiting to see how well the Tube was received..." I'm from the States, so maybe I'm missing something here. I would say Nokia was, not Nokia were.

Ohh gramatical debates on AAS.
I can't speak for any other posters, but I was using 'were' rather than 'was' because I was refering to the individuals who comprise Nokia holding an opinion rather than Nokia as a corporate entity. I wouldn't consider a corporate entity as being capable of holding an opinion in this case necessating the use of 'were'.

elaverick, no debate or criticism intended. its just that the plural use of Nokia is something I have seen exclusively on Nokia or symbian blogs, and could never find an answer for it. thanks for the response.

What's your definition of "aging"? FreeBSD (UNIX) based OS from the 1960's like OSX from Apple isn't "aging"? Linux from 1991 isn't "aging"? Windows Mobile from 1995 isn't "aginig"? Symbian from 1998 is "aging" when it is the newest/youngest of the lot?
