Thanks for the heads up! Excellent news.
Just updated my N85 firmware. And ALL settings are "untouched". Was it DEP or somehing. 😮
Nah. I just kidding a bit. This update screwed my phone. Formatting...
Hey !! Whats about the N95-4 ????
My N95 8GB NAM is stuck in V 20.2.005 and still no ASR (Auto Screen Rotation) or any solution for the suttering video problem reported on several places !!!! (among other minor bugs)
@hih,
pls. be serious. i am about to upgrade my n85. did it really screw up your phone?
I updated my N85 to v11 with no problems. I still can't get Maps 3.0 working, though.

did u use the new version of NSU or the older version works? thanks.
hi, pls any feedbacks for those who updated? Was it worth it? My complains are mostly hardware related so am not sure if i need to update ? btw are the pics any better ? Thanks!
Yeah. Some connection problems to internet. So Nokia CAN NOT preserve user settings. I am serious. N85 was Zombie when released due the firmware. Now, when I use NSU, all fucks up. They will never learn.
Actually I am fed up with Nokia phones (currently using N79, N80, N82, N85 and N95). Nothing has changed concerning FW update. You can never trust them.
They will deliver Vine, Email, Maps 3.0 Alpha etc totally IRRELEVANT crap. 😡

Phone is ok. But I had to install ALL stuff again. And "hard format" phone memory.
I am used to it. FW update -> wipe all -> install all apps again. Thats Nokia's policy. 😮
wooah, they got updates to N95 and many other phones, but where is updates to N79?? Phone is currectly so buggy shit, I wonder and lot, why they released it? Is this still a beta version? Argh!

You still can't charge from computer without locking your mem card.
I found a workaround, but remember, this makes the cable no more useable for data-exchange, you have been warned...
Preferably you should only do this if you have an aditional cable to use for data
Cut the D- and D+ (green and white) and on the nokia or micro side join them, on the other side insulate them sepparatedly.

Done - you created a charging only cable!
It would be handy if you could buy a USB cable with a three-way switch built into the cable. So you could then select:
1- Charging only
2- Data connection no charging
3- Data and Charging
I think I might make a trip to Maplin and give it a go.
I'm not sure what your issue was, Hih, but I didn't lose any data whatsoever. It was the smoothest firmware update ever (as easy as an Iphone update, perhaps even easier). I used NSU. It updated automatically, and then proceeded to download the update.

In fact I've done 3 firmware flashes of my N85 in 2 days .. one to unlock the FM Tranny .. a cross-grade .. a reflash to fix Maps after a wee debacle with Maps 3.0 Beta and finally v11.0.047 .. ALL of which didn't need a backup ..
"no settings or user files were harmed in the making of this upgrade" 😊
Now as to upgrading the good ol N95-1 .. yep back to the familiar .. backup // update // restore .. scenario
.. I love FP2 !! gee wouln't it be nice if the N95 ran it? 😊
Hih, I had absolutely no problems with this firmware update on my N85, everything went smoothly and ALL my settings and apps where restored perfectly.
well done nokia.

This is crap. Nokia has nothing to do with your internet connection. If you live in a place where the connection is crap then this is your fault, not Nokia's. It seems like you are a constant complainer. The very fact that you eventually upgraded your phone means that your ROM flashing state was retained. You do not know what you are talking about so you should shut up.
I have very good connections here.
Just updated my N95-1.
Autofocus in Camera now a disaster!
Anything closer than 50cm have a very slight chance to be focused in.
Haven't touched a setting yet.
UPDATE: After Restore and Restart, things back to normal.
I hoped for http://cubeover.blogspot.com/2008/10/christmas-wishes-from-n95-s60-firmware.html

just a query mr zak. if i upgrade the firmware and i found out that the previous version was way better(or something goes terribly wrong, like blackout) is there a way to revert to the old firmware? do the restore and restart you mentioned revert the firmware? i'm new to this upgrade so bear with me. appreciate any response from anybody.
No. You can not restore your old firmware.
People know they have to backup before firmware updates and still complain about it erasing their phones? Seriously?
