Vodafone branded N85

I recevied my N85 last night after buying it from an ebay seller. However the phone is Vodafone branded physically above the screen , had voda custom firmware on it etc and came in a vodafone box with voda manuals. However Vodafone say the phone is not being released on their network, so how the heck have I ended up with a voda branded N85, it is open on all networks but I can't find a single pic of this on the web. FYI it's a black / copper colour combination and it's product code was 0574617 before I updated it to a sim free UK one.

Last thing is there a way to remove the physical branding without damaging the phone?

Vodafone operates in 15-20 countries or so. If Vodafone in your country doesn't have the device in their selection, it could very well be in the Vodafone offering in some other country, and end up being sold anywhere in the world via eBay.
