Today is one of my happiest days for 2 reasons:
1) Upgraded N96 to v12 which is a lot better
2) Found out that the battery from my old n95 8gb fits perfectly in the n96
N95-8GB battery fits great in the n96

does the battery cover fit properly after fitting the n95 8gb battery?

No there is always a bulge but you can slim the back cover down to make it less noticable.
Very slight bulge, but hey I am on my second day with no problems heavy bluetooth, calls and i have only 2 bars OFF the battery so I will probably make it till tomorrow.
One problem: there will 1mm opening on doth sides of the phone around the battery area that if you stick your fingernail in it will pop off the cover, 2 days and i had no problems.
Most of upgraded from n95 anyway, just try it out.
