I sync my private contacts, private calendar (both through the nokia sync software on my private laptop) and private gmail through imap. I've recently added my work email through mail for exchange and it works beautifully. I'd now like to add my work calendar entries, but don't want to mix private and business calendars. Is there a way to set it up so that the business calendar sync only transfers items from exchange to my phone and not vice versa?
Single direction sync for exchange calendar?
"Is there a way to set it up so that the business calendar sync only transfers items from exchange to my phone and not vice versa?"
Er, yes and no. Not directly.
I've got a similar setup (one-way sync to work Exchange, personal Exchange with Mail for Exchange).
Get these:
a Google calendar (free),
Google's Calendar Sync (freeware),
GooSync account (free)
Swim (freeware)
1. Set Google's calendar sync to sync your work calendar to your Google calendar "one-way: Outlook to Google"
2. Set up your GooSync account and send the settings to your device
3. Install Swim (if you want automated sync'ing). This is the hardest part cos you have to get the installer signed by Symbian (free, online process) which can be a bit hit and miss - keep trying and it does work eventually.
The only downside is that Google's calendar sync only works while your work PC/laptop is on. When your PC is off the GooSync/Swim updates still take place, but your PC isn't updating Google Calendar so nothing changes.
It's actually much easier and neater than it sounds, and it gives you what you want (the same as what I wanted)
Next thing I want is the same sort of setup for Contacts
thanks, I'll give it a go
