N95-1 to N95 8gb upgrade?

Is there any advantage to this upgrade?

I was offered this upgrade earlier today but to me its a kind of pointless upgrade because I could easily fling a 16GB card into my current phone (I currently use an 8GB anyway) whereas the N95 8GB is restricted.

Can anyone talk me around to the advantage?

Oooh now there's a thought! Why did that not occur to me?

(rushes off to ebay to see what the N95 8GB goes for...)

Cheers for the tip matie

The N95 8GB has a slightly bigger screen, and double amount of RAM, if it those things are worth anything.

Don't forget, you've already got an 8Gb card and as you rightly say you can easily get a 16Gb card to replace it... possibly from the money you get from selling the N95 8Gb.

The RAM is only double in the N95 8Gb, and people have reported that the introduction of Demand Paging on the N95 Classic has made this less of an issue. The N95 8Gb's screen is only 0.2" bigger and yet the screen resolution is exactly the same so I don't personally see it as much of an advantage. Not enough to go through the hassle of transferring everything over from the old phone anyway.

The N95 8Gb also has a larger capacity battery (1200 mAh as opposed to 950 mAh) but if you've had your N95 long enough you've probably already bought a second battery for it. If not, you could get an official battery as well as a 16Gb card and still have plenty of money left over for a couple of rounds at the pub 😉
