So PC Suite's working OK on your PC at the moment? Better not rock the boat. But in case you fancy doing just that, or if things have got rocky and you think a fresh install might do the trick, note that there's a new non-beta version of Nokia's PC Suite now available, v7.1, with the previously beta Communication Center product built-in. If you do install, let us know how it looks! (via Symbian Guru)

Does anyone know if the potentially great but faulty (causing newer files to be overwritten when used on more than one computer, a mortal sin for a file sync function I'd say!) file synchronisation has been fixed yet?

Very wise, I'd say. The installation procedure crashed on me here! And that's before it's even downloaded and installed! I'll give this some width too, I think!

I just downgraded to PC Suite version 7.0.8.2 because I wanted to be able to send text messages via PC Suite.
I don't understand why Nokia left out the text sending function in the N Series PC Suite.
A propo of nothing in particular, I did this upgrade and thought I'd have a look at the music manager and video thingy. The music manager seemed unreliable and not particularly intuitive, and claimed that my PC's WMA files were corrupt. I had to look around for quite a few minutes to see a tiny button that said 'transfer to phone'. The video-copier thingy looked a bit better and offered to copy stuff on my phone onto the PC, but I thought, 'it's only going to put them somewhere I don't want'.
So it suddenly dawned on me, I have at least half a dozen apps on my PC that are aimed at "simplifying" the copying of media around and I thought, "WTF is so difficult about dragging and dropping files and folders using Windows?!" (or Mac, or Linux). Surely kids learn how to do that in primary school IT lessons these days? OK, so these apps do a conversion as well, but is even that really necessary now that mobile devices play most formats, and flash memory is big and cheap?
Superb! I can now finally sync my N95 8gb to my PC.
Since May I have been unable to connect the two and now it will allow me to upgrade the firmware.
There was an issue with the USB connectivity drivers which is now resolved at long last!
I have been testing this and i think its greatly improved and everyone should update.
It fixes connection problems caused by widcomm and even usb, battery meter is shown on main page and the new communication centre is great.
