I just received an SMS to my N93. The SMS is from "Nokia", and reads:
"Are you ready to play? Click on the link in the next message to check out N-Gage. To opt out of future SMS messages please visit the website news.n-gage.com/sms"
It was followed by another message containing a link to n-gage.12dld.com (I'm omitting the rest of the link for security reasons).
Is this for real? I haven't tried following this link, in case it leads to some sort of malware pretending to be N-Gage. Has anyone else gotten a similar message?
N-Gage support for the N93 has not been released. If you had had your SIM card in a Motorola phone, you would have received the same SMS, I bet, and it wouldn't make N-Gage work on the Motorola, either (if it is/was a marketing message sent by Nokia in the first place).
Go to http://www.n-gage.com and click on "Get N-Gage" to see which devices N-Gage is available for.
Yes, by now it's obvious that they haven't released N-Gage support for the N93 (and I don't think they ever will). But why on earth did Nokia send me these SMSes out of the blue like that?
Presumably you've given your phone number to Nokia at some point and also given your consent to sending marketing messages like that.
