Hey guys, I've recently bought a Nokia N95 8GB handset and I'm getting some problems with the phone. When I try to record a video clip the phone freezes after the first 6secs of recording for 2secs and then it continues as normal. After about another 3-4secs of recoring it freezes again for around 2-3 secs then it continues recording. It just repeats this process throught the entire length of the video :con?
Since I got the phone I've only loaded around 8-10 tracks on it so I'm sure it has alot of free space.
Also this phone is supposed to have an Accelerometer Sensor but when I turn the phone to the side nothing happens, no matter what mode its in. I've checked the 'Display' settings menu but there is no options present with respect to the accelerometer sensor or any type of screen rotation for that matter :con?
Any Help will be greately appreciated,
Thnaks.
Is the phone 2nd hand? If so, it might be worthwhile doing a format of the phone. This will get rid of all the info left over from the previous user.
If you don't want to do that, or if the phone's new, check that your videos are saving to your extended memory (the 8GB bit). Maybe this will help.
For autoscreen rotation you'll either need samir's rotateMe app or have firmware v30.0.018 on your phone (8GB users - correct me if I'm wrong).
First things first.
Could you type in *#0000# on the front screen and let us know what software version you have. it will say something like this:-
V 30.0.18
23-07-08
RM-320
Ok I typed in *#0000# and this is what i saw:
V 20.2.005
30-04-08
RM-421
Nokia N95 (A6.02)
BTW please forgive me if I seem somewhat clueless but my last phone was a Sony Ericsson k800i so I'm fairly new to the whole Nokia platform.
RM 421 would, I believe, make your N95 8GB a NAM phone (North American) which I do not believe had Auto Rotate on firmware version 20.
You can check to see if V30 has been released for your phone here:-

If there is an update available then you should read this sticky:-

Good luck. 😊
As ian-ross has said, your phone won't have auto-rotate built into it at the moment. I would suggest you get a copy of rotateMe but the guy who wrote it (samir) has closed his website and now launched www.aikonlab.com . Worse still, is that rotateMe isn't listed as a project on the site. Furthermore, you can't contact samir via the site at the moment because he's busy for Christmas. You might need to wait until after Christmas before asking him about it.
Hey guys thanks for all the help. I returned the phone today and bought another one from another dealer. This is not the N95-4 8GB like i had the first time but the N95-2 8GB that was manufactured in Finland.
The following info i got from the phone with the *#0000# key press:
V 30.0.018
23-07-08
RM-320
(c) Nokia N95 (70.02)
There ya go. You're sorted! You've got auto rotate now. What about your video recording? Is it better now?
