the speed dial in my E71 is not responding at all when i try to open it!
i already updated the firmware to the latest version '110.07.127' RM-346

I dunno if this is your issue, but getting Speed Dial up-and-running is a two step process.
FIRST...
You have to go to menu > tools > settings > phone > call > speed diallig. This is where you turn Speed Dialling "On".
THEN...
You go to menu > communications > speed dial. This is where you set up your numbers.

thx alot jerry for ur reply. my pb wasnt about how to enable & set the speed dialing.
I was able to fix the pb now. i found out that there is something wrong in 1 of the contacts that saved and associated to one of the speed dial numbers. all though that i don't know what's the pb exactly but all what i done is deleted the contact & recreated again & all works normal again.
