Why is a hedgehog called a hedgehog?
It doesn't look like a pig and I only ever see them on the road, never in hedges.
I wonder why?

Viewed from a certain angle it's snout could help it to resemble a tiny pig!! And it has a sort of thorny hedge along it's back. You do have to be poeticly minded (or drunk/stoned/tired) to reach that conclusion though. It's sad to say that at three in the afternoon i'm all three! But it is weekend ![]()
prob from ancient english hedge kinda means inbetween area (like zone between fields)...hog creature which likes and lives close to the ground.
