a transparent active homescreen or mixture of active and basic homescreen features ?

Go to -

Tools/Settings/General/Personalisation/Homescreen

Click on homescreen it will change from Active to Basic, homescreen icons etc will be gone.

Return to Tools/Settings/General/Personalisation/Homescreen to set the 5 shortcuts on the directional pad

the thing is i want to use some other functions of the active homescreen together with the 5 on the directional pad.for example the new message notification where you can read the message on the homescreen.doesnt seem to be possible though.thanks for trying to help though.
