Which next gen N-Gage game released in 2008 was the best?
Best N-Gage Game of 2008?
Dirk Dagger, for the story.
Shame the replay value is low, but that's something all adventure games have in common I never expected anything different there.
Dear Tzer2,
how is everything buddy? not much news from you these days?
I wanted to know something but hope you'll answer because you are not to be heard these days!!
I have an N73 and playing games these days means talking my phone often to be repaird becuse of button mashing!!
I wanted to purchase an n81 but i wonder how strong the d-pad and the number pad is to take that type of ngaging button bashing? do you think the kaypad is strong enough??
Yeah, sorry about the lack of updates but I've been ill during december and it's always difficult anyway to get articles done over the Xmas holidays. We should be back to normal soon though.
The N81 is pretty sturdy, the phone is pretty solid in horizontal mode and the gaming buttons are quite tough.
However, the N81 is being discontinued now, and it doesn't have much on-board storage space either. You might want to consider getting an N85 instead, which is a much better phone and also has dedicated gaming buttons on the double slider.
To Ashwyn: I have been used N81 for a year. I personally dont recommend N81. First, the game key is not as good as it looks, the D-pad is quite tough. It's featured for gaming but no 3D chip(Although it is not important but who knows if N-Gage will support it in the future). Slightly bulky, limited C memory.(If you get N-Gage installed you can't install Nokia Maps2.0, if you did, you just got 4-5m free C memory, is definitely not enough for cache or N-gage games or other applications) No GPS, crap camera etc.
On the other hand, N81 has a very good speaker. That's the only advantage I found compared with other N-series devices.
I recommand N85(horizontal gaming) or N82(Camera, 3D chip, price is cheap) N95 8GB(overall) I personally changed N81 to N93i......
That just my personal suggestion. (I'm glad N81 is no longer on the market any more, it has got so many 'invisible' problems such as c memory, it's not worth for the money)
The other advantage of the N81 is the very good sound quality, it's better than on most other N-Gage models as it has dedicated audio hardware.
However, the 5320 also has dedicated audio hardware and excellent sound, and it's N-Gage compatible too.
As I said before, the N85 would be my choice if you're looking for a new N-Gage compatible device.

Actually I can't hear any difference between N81 and N93i with the original headset come with the box. N81 has the 3.5mm standard port which N93i doesn't have. But the sound quality are the same. Since I use bluetooth stereo headset there isn't any difference. The speed of switching different tracks on N93i (such as skip or back) is MUCH quicker than N81. Maybe it's due to the memory.
But the loud speaker of N81 is much much better than N93i. Only the speaker of N81 is one of the best amoungst N-Gage phones.

If you use the same earphones with both (which is possible on an adaptor for the N93) and listen to a whole album, it will sound a bit better on the N81.
But to be honest though, there's never that much difference between audio quality on music players and music phones nowadays. Headphones affect it a lot, but if you use the same pair on two players you won't notice that much between them.
Audio quality fans will disagree, but most people can't even tell the difference between an MP3 and an uncompressed CD track.
