Hi all, I have unlimited* internal usage on my O2 N95 phone and wish to use it as a modem to get online with my laptop. I would like to do it via the USB connector rather than infrared or bluetooth as it would prove more reliable.
1) can it be done
2) has anyone tried it and what were the results?
3) how fast/reliable is it?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Ian, thanks for that, got it connected, was very easy, just connect up and press the 'connect to the internet' button on Nokia PC Suite.
I have a 480kbps connection, but after doing a speed test I am not getting a very good speed, it is running very slow... any ideas/tips? I'm on O2 Mobile Web.
I am getting 60kbsp up and 30kbps down.
thanks

The speed depends entirely on the quality of signal you have. Try moving to somewhere with a better signal and see what you get
whenever a new tether connection is created, it defaults to a slower speed. if you go into network settings and find the dial up connection that is used, go to properties and find the tab with baud rate. change that to the maximum (somethign like 115000) and now everytime you tether it will be set to the max speed.
just download anything and watch the kByte/s (not kbit/s) in the download window on your pc. if connection speed 480 kb/s then download speed shown in windows will be roughly equivalent to 50-60 kB/s
