Hoping for some help if anyone can spare some time please.
When I check for supported notifications in PC Suite all are unavailable when connected by Bluetooth. With the cable, they work. When connected with Bluetooth I am able to read and write messages. I've been through the Nokia forums but not found anything useful.
Set up is as follows:
Samsung NC10 Netbook
PC Suite 7.1.18.0 (latest)
N95 debranded with latest firmware
Device Manager: Bluetooth Bus Enumerator, Broadcom 2045 Bluetooth 2.0 Bluetooth Device.
Currently installed is the BT driver provided by Samsung, and a driver for Darfon (i think) which came from Windows update. I have tried with both and each separately with the same result.
Any ideas would be appreciated, it's not the end of the world but it would be a nice feature to use.
Thanks.
Hi,
Sorry i could not get what exactly your issue is all about???:con?
Sorry for not being clearer. Also sorry for not responding sooner, thought I'd subscribed with email notification, it seems not.
PC Suite has a facility to notify you with a balloon type popup when you receive an incoming call or text message. I am only able to get these when connected by USB. Not an amazing or essential feature, but saves hunting for the phone just to see it's someone I don't want to speak to!
cheers
I have the same problem with my N95 and PC Suite, same version as you, with a Sony Vaio laptop. However, the wife who has the same phone and PC Suite version but a different and very new Vaio laptop and has all the notifications available by Bluetooth. I therefore conclude it is something to do with the BT version/functionality on the laptop.
Once you connect your phone with Nokia PC suite 7.1.18.0, In File Web Settings Help, Select Settings, In Settings, again look for an option called Settings,in this check for General, Notification Options, there you will have options for new call, sms and battery settings. Now you can check if your connected device supports these features using Bluetooth and Cable as well. If it is supported, you can click the options you want(say if you want a notification wheneve a new sms is received, click for notifications for incoming messages in the windows notification area). I think by default these options are not selected becuase selecting these options will increase energy consumption of your battery. To conclude, if your connected phone supports these feature and if you want to get notifications whenever new call or sms comes, then you can check the appropriate features on this settings.
Please do check these boxes only if you are really in need of this feature as it consumes more battery which will resulut in more energy. Save Earth 😊 Dont use if you dont want this feature 😊
The check settings indicates that all but battery notification works with USB, and none work with BT. It's clearly down to the BT in the laptop, I was hoping messing around with different drivers might help, but still getting nowhere.
I dont think this is down the to BT as it works on the N85 with my laptop but not on the N95...
Same problem but i only just upgraded PC Suite. Before that it worked! Checking supported notifications now results in all three being unsupported.
N95-2 8Gig and a IBM laptop. I can post the details if needed but right now I am blaming PC Suite.
The problem version of PC Suite 7.1.18.0
What version(s) do you have?
Hi kcd,
Type *#0000# on your phone and paste the information here 😊
Hi sure thing...
V 30.0.018
23-7-08
RM 320
Nokia n95 (01.01)
But like I said. It worked before and it was the PC Suite software I updated.
Anyone looked into the software?
Cheers
Kevin
Hi kcd,
Do you have latest firmware on your handset ???
You can only get notifications for calls and messages with usb cable, notifications are not available via bluetooth as thay are not supported on the N95
