Hey all,
Just got a brand new N85, they were just released here (australia) and for some reason this phone wont show the callers name or who i have recieved the sms message from...
Ie
if someone calls and it comes as 0404******
and the number is saved as +61404****** their name wont show
if someone smses me and their number is saved as 0404******
an sms always comes up as +61404******
their name again wont show...
the only quick fix i have found for this problem is to duplicate the number under the saved contact as both an 04 and a +614
Although this is driving me nuts and i dont want to do it for everyone!
Ive had N80 and N81 with no problems in this matter too!
I tried to update it and aparently its all up to date... I dont think so though
Software Version
10.045
date 10.09.2008
There has to be upgrades since then ???
Can i hard install an upgrade?
Your help on this matter is much appreciated..
Cheers
Haysey
you have duplicate entries in your phonebook and/or sim card. there's no doubt about it, this happens all the time. clean up your sim and phone book. if you have to, completely delete the contact in question then have them call you, and you will find out where the other entry is stored.
Roger, i thought this was the case too... but its not at all.. i dont have any contacts on my sim, nor duplicates in my phone...
it simply reads the +61 and thinks that its a totally different number to put it in simpler terms
if you are sure there is no duplicates, because i can site numerous times when people have this problem, i tell them there are duplicates, they claim there is not, then it turns out that there WAS duplicates and they just forgot where the other number was stored.
your only choice then is to have someone call you, then add that number to your address book right from the call log. this way the phone copies the number exactly as it is, coutry code and all, exactly as it identifies it.
i'll reiterate to check duplicate entries. i have argued with people who SWEAR that they have no duplicate contacts till they are bleu in the face. but it turned out always that they did actually have duplicates and they just didnt know it. its common when you switch your sim card between different phones, that the phone copies your contacts to the sim card different ways, causing dupes.
