I have searched and not been able to find the definative answer to this question, hope you guys can help.
I currently have the N95-1 and can connect through 3.5G to BBC iplayer beta 1.0 and watch stuff on the screen.
It appears on the sites that I have looked at, that the N96 will only play BBC ipayer through a wifi connection. Is this true?
I ask because I'm due an upgrade and I really like the BBC iplayer but it seems that every phone available either will not play iplayer or if it does (N96/IPhone) its only available through wifi. But I want to use the facility sat on train station or something like that.
Any information would be most helpful.
yes, you can only use iplayer over wifi, but...
you can download programs to your phone on the n96 to watch while your not near a wifi connection.
Hmm, I don't think there's a UK mobile data plan in existence that would cover watching more than just a couple of programs on iPlayer......
I totally understand what you are saying.
But I currently have a version of iplayer on my N95 that has no restrictions. Don't get me wrong, Vodafones 'Unlimited' mobile internet package limits me to 500mb per month, but my beta version of iplayer allows me to view bbc programs over my 3.5G connection. Sometimes the connection is a bit flakey but it still allows me to catch up on a few bbc programs while I am away from a tv (sat on a train etc). This is through the 'Vodafone live' connection.
when you download programs to your phone, you can watch them for upto a week before the licence expires.
