I`m new and frustrated.
Why can I find no way to create a group for sending text messages?
The manual is of no use and I don`t wish to send 58 individual text messages!
All help would be gratefully appreciated.

I don't know why you can't find the way, but here it is:
Launch the Contacts application.
In the main list of contacts, hit the right arrow key to switch to the groups view.
Hit "Options", choose the "New group" option.
When the group is created, highlight it in the groups view, hit center/selection key (or Options > Open).
Then hit "Options", choose "Add members".
I also had to check: The E90 User Guide on page 36 (section titled "Manage contact groups"😉 explains the same thing, more or less.
