I want to copy the contacts file on a 9210i to MMC to use on another 9210. Whenever I try this, I always get an "in use" message, even immediately after a restart. Is there any way around this other than synchronising via PC Suite? I have 800+ contacts so this will take forever, even if PC suite doesn't lose the connection part way through (a regular problem when synchronising contacts with Outlook).
Contacts File "in use"
In contacts app:
File --> More options --> New database, (name your new database how you like)
Then within your original contacts directory: Press 'Ctrl' + a (to highlight all entries) go to File --> More options --> Copy contacts to (your newly created database)... (your new additional directory should be stored on the MMC)
Or - use the excellent Smart VCard program export Contacts to VCF on MMC and import VCF from other Communicator using Smart VCard (I use this app - its awesome...doesnt save caller groups though, but I don't use them anyway)
Or - use Contacts Manager to do this (havent used this app yet, but it claims to save the Nokia groups and other extra stuff)
Probably other ways to do this too...
That's a whole load of contacts! Good luck 😊

Thanks for your help - that was the way I did it. Some stats:
Contacts - 849
Time to delete 650 old contacts on 9210 - ~ 30 mins (next time I'll try creating a new db, moving the contacts and then deleting the new file - it could be a lot quicker.)
Time to copy 9210i contacts to new db (contacts1) on MMC - 5 mins
Time to transfer contacts1 to 9210 by IR - 2 mins
Time to copy contacts from contacts1 on 9210 to contacts - 10 mins.
The exercise does tells us something about the 9210i vs 9210 processing speed - its about twice as fast in this case.
