Menu Icon Customization

Is this at all possible?

I notice that with Stacker, compressed apps have a lil 'c' added to their icon..

I've read that the icon is stored in the program's aif file?

Is it poss to decompile and modify the icon at all?

Would be pretty cool to release new iconsets ... gettin a bit bored with the standard ones..

Maybe this is an idea a developer could take up on?

Apparently there are apps that do it (stacker as you mentioned), and i would love to get the new siemens sx1-icons on my 7650 (imho they look WAY better).

Any clever softwareengineer willing to give it a try?

This gives a good insight on how to create icons:

I assume the aiftool is included in the SDK? Can anyone confirm? I might have to see if I can create something 😉 But first I'll need the sdk which will take me a coupla days to dl on my 33.6 at home 😞

I wondered whether this would be possible in a similar way to the oplogo trick. ie: place a small image in a certain folder with a certain file name and it becomes, for example, the messaging icon.

No luck in any such discovery though :-?

Ah well. Someone get developing! 😃

it is better to have an app 😊
because we are soooo lazy 😉
(let me give a clue to start. FREE 😊 )

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that cost extra memory?
Granted, we're talking a meagre few kilobytes per icon, but still..

Also, I think that the SX1's icons look so cool because the phone can display what, 60,000 more shades of colour than the 7650 can, which would go a ways to explaining them looking nicer.. 😊

As some of the cool developers in the 7650 scene have shown us, nothing is impossible with this remarkable phone.

Except getting bluetooth audio working... 😉
