Judy Breck asks, over on Smart Mobs, if it's about time for a mobile phone with a dual screen? The thought is inspired by the new Lenovo laptop that has an extension to the regular screen in the lid that slides out to the side, providing an almost Cinerama experience. I suspect that my reaction would be similar to any Symbian OS follower, namely a discrete cough before pointing out the Nokia Communicators.

there is already such a phone. It has MOAP and you even covered it:allaboutsymbian.com/news/item/4790_D800iDS-dual_screen_MOAP_on_Sy.php
Didn't Nokia have a mockup of a device like this in one of their publicity slides last year?
It was the same basic shape as the communicators but both the top and bottom halves were touch-sensitive screens.
No idea if we'll ever see it, but it shows that manufacturers are thinking in those terms at least.
What about the Celio Redfly that was released earlier this year? This was a 'dumb' ultraportable laptop whose sole purpose was to connect to your smartphone and give you more real estate for writing emails/editing documents etc. The implementation wasn't so successful but I would like to see this idea developed, maybe some kind of folding keyboard/screen combination that would be pocketable.
