n85 packet data limit warning

I was using my new N85 on my 3.5g network and got the strangest warning (I don't remember the exact warning because it has only happened once and appeared for only a second) about stopping the download because I was going to exceed my packet data limit!

This is weird because:

I don't think the network sends this "limit" (it's not really a limit, it's just how many megabytes per month I can use before paying an extra fee)

and

I don't think the network sends this message out to the phone when you've used a certain amount of packet data (at least I've been on the same network for over 7 years and they've never sent any message of this sort before)...and anyway, it would be likely it's a warning from inside the phone's software, and not coming in from the net work...right?

Well, if it happens again I'll try to copy down the exact warning!

Did you perhaps download an N-Gage game when you got the warning? The N-Gage application has such a warning in the connection settings under "My Profile".

Well, at least your suggestion is a start. I was just surfing but did have Ngage open in the background. I just know it couldn't have been a service message because it popped up similarly to a "No gateway reply" message, not a text or service message. Could very well have something to do with games open in background. Just weird because I've been using S60 phones for years and have never seen this kind of message before.

I can't quite remember but does the mobile version of the BBC iPlayer also provide a warning about flat rate data plans after a certain amount of streaming/downloading via 3G has been done?

Hi,

I think I found out what the error was. N-Gage has a setting where you can limit the amount of internet data per session. I hadn't yet configured it and it was on its 2MB default setting. I had N-Gage running in the background so I'm pretty sure that's what caused the error.
