Ok people its contract renewal time again .
It comes down to these two phones .
N96 on 3 uk ( 500 mins , unlimited internet and email)
or
Blackberry Storm on Vodafone (700 mins unlimited calls to landline, unlimited internet and email)
Whats important to me and what the phone will be most used for -
1- Navigation - already have Tomtom navigator 6 for symbian and a bluetooth receiver versus Blackberry Maps (what else is out there for BB?)
2- email - send receive at least 20 / day
3- music player - all music on phone - no CD's in car ( at the min a N95 through a 3.5mm jack plug into head unit.
4 - Camera - not really as big an issue.
What do you suggest . Tell me things I might not know . What does it better ?
To be brutally honest, I wouldnt go for either of those.
Having used the storm, and read an awful lot about the N96 (but not used it admittedly), I would either go for getting an ultra low contract without a handset and use the existing phone (N95?), or do the same and go simfree.
With either an N85 or 5800, or whatever else floats your boat. Both of these certaintly have GPS options, since Garmin is going to release an update to make it compatible with the 5800. You'll have to ditch TT if you have the 5800 though.
With the N85 you could use the FM transmitter for music instead of using a cable all the time. The N96 does not have one.
Those 2 phones your offered just do very little for me.
Thanks for that . Have a N95 8gb at the minute .
Ah. See the N96 doesnt really offer much at all over your current phone.
And Id higgly suggest having a play with the storm before buying.

Was in the Vodafone store 2 days ago and as luck would have it the Blackberry rep was there at the time . Got all my questions answered and a really professional demo of the phone and the Blackberry Maps as well .
What I didn't like about the maps was that there was no way of previewing the route like you have on the Tomtom navigator .(View route- Browse map of route) which as a part time HGV driver is usefull for checking for low bridges.
Liked the large screen and thought the touch screen was pretty good although I'd worry about it in my pocket with coins and keys (my phones are not cared for particularly well ).
3 have already tried roping me in to another 18 months buy offering 3 months free navigation on Nokia Maps (sorry but that just dosen't excite me because like the above you can't preview the route) and 8 free downlads from Nokia Music ( with nearly 600 mp3's on my fone another 8 is'nt going to excite me either.
I know what I'm going to get with a N96 and I think I know what I'm going to get with a BBStorm . What I want to know is what is the Storm bad at ? What did the rep not tell me?
I like the N95-8gb and I like the Symbian platform -it's a "fear" of the unknown .
As a N95 -8gb user what will I miss out on if I go for the BB Storm?
Well it depends how do you want to use it? if you are looking for email, a blackberry is known the best for email. N96 seems like good for entertainment or music.
