sorry if this has been mentioned before, as there is now a new firmware available for generic 8gb handsets, was wandering if this one is also unhackable just as the other new firmware for the original n95 is.

im just backing up everything now using nseries pc suite ready to update. Including al memory card files. Takes hours though....
can anyone confirim if they have upgraded to this new firmware notice any difference or advantage?

updated firmware i note my phone memory has gone down from 103MB free to 87MB!!

thats b/c it as 3 n-gage games preinstalled on the firmware
you can delete them and recover the memory
OK... I bit the bullet and updated to V31.
The first thing that strikes me is the (slightly) redisigned Music Player.

initially seems same, no massive changes i can see....

which games are they? all i have are the three id paid for before, pinball, pool and fifa and onnly fifa is working now the others do not...
Nothing of any relevance in this firmware, it's just Nokia trying to fool us into closing the option to hack. So stay away, if you ever want to use your device as a power user!

where is msn? all my ngage games come up with error code 5 and i cannot remove them

I have to say, that in the absence of a changelog for this version, that I agree with sbc and see no advantage/reason to upgrade.

The main screen still has the wonky, mismatched, Share online with no option to remove it.
Have installed Handy Shell from epocware which I think is better than the main screen and offers more options.

It was on my V30. If Iremember rightly, it cost �1.50p a month to use it after signing up.

i honestly dont think the new firmware comes with 3 pre installed n gage games. none on mine at all.

im on 3uk network, and i dont pay for it over network, have 2 versions installed, one for wifi and one for 3g connection, the one you download from nokia is charged, the one i got off 3 is free to use, without a data plan!
i formatted my phone and mass memory before running NSU after the update you get Aspha;lt 3 ,fifa 08 and snake subsonic pre-installed
they come from nowhere else b/c i had nothing what so ever on phone before hand also my friend as them preinstalled too on euro1 firmware update to v31
i run no back up - restore so nothining interfered with anything so they could come from nowhere else
why do you need others to confirm what i'm telling you/ lol
i'm not a noob who does'nt know what i'm doing btw

I didnt get them games but i didnt wipe memory either. Surely the games are either in the firmware or not it doesnt say format the phone first??

i know it doesn't but i did so them games could come from no where other than the firmware update
I had to update n gage afterwards as it was not the latest version.
to get round this i downloaded the games you said you got (allthough they were still only demo versions, are yours full games?) then removed them. my memory back up tto over 100mb...
