Same here :frown:
Gutted no BBC iPlayer either!
Yes me too. Hope they sort the BBC iplayer out as i have come from a N96.
Well they emailed me to tell me my 5800 left the warehouse on 22nd and I could track it by clicking through the links. The links took me to a basic page (which, incidentally IE and Chrome warned me not to open as it had no certificate) which said it had been sent, with spaces for further information, which I guessed would be populated as the delivery drew near. I kept checking back and checking back and nothing changed. I get home today to find that UPS have attempted a delivery and there was nobody there (surprise, surprise) and they'll come back with it on Monday. Grrrrrrr. So I don't get it 'till Monday now. 😡 On the note left by the driver is a tracking number. When I went to UPS website and put the number in, it has a full and rich history of my parcel's progress - so here comes the whinge - WHY OH WHY didn't Nokia give me the tracking number so I could have looked at it sooner and would have known it was coming today?! It wasn't in any of the email I was sent by Nokia, only the Nokia Order Number. Was I supposed to phone them to ask for it? I thought the click-through on the Nokia page - my account - was the tracking facilty and yet I find that there was a much better one if I only had the UPS number. Grrrrrrrr. Whinge over.
They say anticipation is sweet so I have one over all you people who have yours in hand! Enjoy!
Tim
Mine is due monday also, but thats because I chose standard delivery.
However, one thing worthy of note (bit late for you though Tim) is that you can track it via the UPS site using the Nokia order number.
Simply track by referance rather than tracking number on the site, and use the Nokia order number but add '-01' to it.

Actually I tried that during the wait - trying to assume that Nokia would have given me some way in other than that rubbish page of theirs (should have phoned Nokia) and it didn't work. I tried it with and without the -01 after it and both failed with the red message Not Available - Try again later. And it still says that - just tried again. Tried .com and .co.uk so I think I did try all I could!
Never mind. <taps foot/twiddles thumbs> Tee hee
Tim
Thats odd, worked for me and some others who tried.
Nevermind, it will arrive soon (but not soon enough).
Im itching to have that little paint app working.

Nah. Just tried it again. Doesn't work. Tried all sorts of combinations of leaving spaces and hyphens in all sorts of ways but it doesn't work. I conclude still that Nokia have cocked up here in their system somehow. The UPS said that my UK delivery was coming from Holland. Is that the case for others?
And I now read that the delivered item has FW 10 and not 11 for most and that NSU won't play ball with upgrading (presumably without a Product Code change).
Anyway, I won't moan again until I have the unit in my hand on Monday and can report on its performance!
Tim
Ah well, they must have got it wrong.
Yeah, they all come from Holland, at least everyone on N95 users got theirs from there, and thats where mines coming from.

Thats where mine currently is...
I'll ask about the FW from all the ones over there that have got them. I'd be very suprised if the UK product code isnt added soon.
I'm one of the unlucky ones having problems updating mine unfortunately.
Also, some people had the iPlayer application on theirs, where I didn't have anything of the sort!

Interesting that yours was routed through Belgium. I'm on the South Coast - Chichester - and mine arrived at East Midlands Airport direct from Holland then on to Eastleigh! Who knows how these things work, unless one is a UPS employee!!
I know how to change the PC but would be a bit reluctant to do so if there's a risk of a balls up. I'll go and look at the changelog again to see if it's worth the risk.

It appears the firmware is updatable: http://www.n95users.com/forum/nokia-5800/23471-uk-5800s-what-firmware-updateable.html
Mine took another route due to it being standard delivery - it went by boat. Yours being express (which everyone bar me seems to have done) went via plane.
Iplayer - that seems to have only been installed on the special edition handsets. Those that preordered and were the first 100 at the flagship store. I have no idea if it can be taken from those and added to others.

So customers who pre-ordered through the Nokia online store because they don't happen to live in London get a raw deal.
Interesting idea of customer service from Nokia there 😞
I don't get why we (online shop pre-order customers) or anyone who buy the phone can't have the iPlayer app because that's a free application anyway - except we will probably have to wait months for the BBC to actually make it available. Fair enough giving away games or music etc.
At the moment I'm not worried about the iPlayer app and that Nokia 'fobbed' us off though, my biggest concern is not being able to update my firmware on this damned "0575581" product code!! 😡😡😡

Ah. Of course. What a buffoon I am not realising the land/sea route would be likely that way! Anyway, it seems like because of Nokia's incompetence in giving me a tracking number and not being home for UPS on Friday I could have saved myself a few quid and had mine overland/sea too!
On BBC iPlayer - has anyone actually tried to go to the BBC iPlayer website and download the app directly on the 5800's web browser using the method I used on the N96 (after I'd reformatted it)? http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/iplayer.wgz
Tim
I'll gladly try installing from the iPlayer site, but how do you install a .wgz file?

My thinking exactly, although I wont use iplayer on mine, various forums are full of people trying to get it working.

And this is from a UK pre-ordered one? Odd. Lots of people on N95 users have got theirs to update without changing product code.
What methods have you tried, both NNS and over the air?

The benefits of hindsight! 😉 But Im sure if you complained you would get the delivery cost back, depends if you think its worth it.
bartmanekul wrote:What methods have you tried, both NNS and over the air?
I've tried over the air and through the PC Update Suite. Both say I have the latest firmware version 10.0.010
Nokia's site says my product code should have v.11.0.008 available.
CaptnSpaulding wrote:I'll gladly try installing from the iPlayer site, but how do you install a .wgz file?
The phone deals with .wgz (widget) files pretty much the same way as .sisx files and installs them itself.
However I've now installed the iplayer widget but it doesn't seem to work.
The widget loads OK but when I try to click on any of the links (including the new versions link) nothing happens.
Maybe it needs the updated firmware to work ?
<insert image of fist being shaken in the direction of Nokia UK, here>
BTW I originally tried entering this reply from my 5800 but there doesn't seem to be any way to enter a carriage return into a text entry box on the web (carriage return works fine in things like the notes application).
Has this been fixed in v11 ?

This looks like exactly the same behaviour experienced when it's tried on the E51. And E90.
