N85 FW update...

Well i just purchased my N85 today. last night i checked a demo model at the nokia priority dealer & it was perfect!
today, my handset has the creaky slider, photos have too much noise & somehow the phone is really slow. even when the transitions were turned off the phone was really slow. in comparison my N91 is blazing fast. ( ignoring the mandatory automatic restart once everyday )

phone memory reads:
37 mb in use
48 mb free
20 mn sis applications
17 mb other files

i read on various n85 reviews that the available free memory on startup is about 70 mb. is this the reason as to why my phone is slow. everything takes more than a second to render.

So i thought of updating my phone's firmware.
It currently is 0573729 (India). used the nokia software updater to see if there is any software update available & it reads 10.045.
but the latest version is 11.047

i did manage to read some place about the NSS way of updating your software.
Since i'm new to this, could someone give me a detailed step by step instruction as to how i can get it to the latest available firmware.
even a link to a web article would suffice.
don't want my phone to be rendered into a brick cuz of my ignorance or mistakes.

& also, if i do manage to change it which CODE should i use? & by changing the code, does my nokia warranty still stand?
reason being, i'm leaving to Australia next month for my higher studies & i really need a phone that isn't filled with niggles.

so do pass on any info. that you might deem relevant/necessary...

thanks in advance!
