i updated my n95 8GB and all was fine until today
i switched my phone off for the 1st time since updating on the day firmware was released and now i've switched it back on i've go the bug what others reported on other sites where you phone cant find a network signal ,it doesnt even detect the brand of my network
edit: its just randomly decided to conect after leaving it alone for an hour
Just a suggestion:-
Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > Network > Operator selection > Manual
Let the manual search find all the operators within range and selct any operator other than your own. You will be refused of course. Repeat this step again with another operator and then finally with your own operator. If this works then you can reset to Automatic selection.
Failing that, you could get the operator settings resent to you in case you restored the original from PC Suite Backup and they were corrupted somehow.
I had the same problem when I was using one of those rebel sim card type things (it was locked). The new firmware would not select a network with the rebel sim.
Tony.

i'm in UK using vodafone sim
i read about this issue the day after the firmware was released on symbian freak in main firmware announcment thread but didn't believe it ,but i do now lol

does it just happen randomly or after cetain things?
as long as i dont restart phone there is no problem ,
i've not turned my phone off since it got signal so i dont know if it will happen everytime or just now and again
the problem is reported all over the web with the latest firmware ,i dont know if its just certain networks or if its random occurence but its annoying and nokia need to address it quickly
I'm on v31 with Vodafone and no problems here with signal at all.
When you update the phone to new software it physically resets itself after it has finished.
I think it must be something to do with operator software as i have an Arabic phone and don't have any issues like that. All the phones here in Jordan (apart from the iphone) are bought on a PAYG basis

It's the same with the new software updates here.
The phone resets itself after updating.
However, some people then use Nokia PC Suite to restore backup and also restore the previous firmware's settings which has been shown to cause problems.

I appreciate some people have had issues but just to balance it a little I have always used full back up and restore and had very few problems. I prefer to keep all my old content and settings rather than spending a few hours sorting it myself.
