Despite some glitches at Nokia's end, telling me the N78 was already up to date and that the firmware version available was the same as the current one, v12 - hey, I 'updated anyway'. And lo and behold the N78 comes up with v20.149 firmware after all. Something screwy obviously present there, but worth a good look over-the-air or via Nokia Software Update if you own an N78. Do a backup anyway, but in theory all your data and apps should be safe.
Read on in the full article.
ohh the N78, do you think this would be a good upgrade from my current Nokia E51?
I really like me E51, but thinking about a change.
Any recommendations from any N78 users?
Cheers,
Darren.
This update is available since 14-01. Look on Spaziocellulare.
That's as maybe, but both NSU and the OTA update system denied its existence throughout. As seen from the UK, anyway.
These multi-region updates do get confusing! I normally only post on AAS once I know that a device update is available on NSU for generic Euro product codes. Anything before that would be premature.
alextootchie is correct. I managed to install it immediately after news of it being available OTA was posted on Spaziocellulare.com, and then documented all the changes myself and wrote it on Nokia Discussions Board on 15th January (search in the Software Updates section for N78 v20.149 Bug List Thread). Unfortunately, I didn't get credit for this on any site, even the Dailymobile.se page, who was referred to the changelog by another user on their forums who copied my changelog. Anyways Mr Litchfield, I know it sounds a bit annoying but I was wondering if you could please acknowledge that I came through with the first detailed changelog (put a shoutout to my username on the Nokia boards: adrianhughes) please, if you don't believe me check the dates, I was the first one to come up with such a detailed changelog.
@adrian: Well, belated kudos from me then! Next time, though, email me or Rafe or Ewan ASAP for the scoop and you'll get much speedier and more public credit 8-)
thankyou Mr Litchfield, I will endeavour to do that next time!
