Since you're claiming that the video is 'very, very good', it'd be nice if you provided us with some details on the actual videos. Resolution? Bitrate? MP4 or 3GP?
since you're asking him about the details I'll assume you haven't got a 5800 to try it out on so, why bother asking? Stir up trouble?
Videos appear as 3GP streaming links, encoded in H.264 and content is 320 by 176 pixels, at a bitrate of 192kbps
The use of H.264 means that it looks better than you might think from the raw spec.... Can't screenshot it though, since the video player uses direct screen writes (I think)
Steve
I don't know what you're telling us here Steve, my 5800 from CPW came with BBC iPlayer already on.
And yes, you can save a link to the stream, goes in the gallery.
I meant that you can't save the video itself, for watching later on, offline.
And this is the first time iPlayer's been available to people who already had 5800s, i.e. it's in Download! now.
For non-UK folks wanting the BBC's radio podcasts, don't forget AAS's feature about how to browse and subscribe to them through the S60 Podcasting app:

Does this work on the N82 also? The only time I've managed to get iplayer working on it is with an old hacked version...
I find iplayer content looks very good indeed on the internal screen of my E90, so I suspect it will look just as fine on the 5800.
More importantly, "Zip manager" has been added to the downloads application
Anyone know where I can download iPlayer for N95 8GB? It used to work on WiFi until i ugraded to latest firmware. Thanks.
hi i cant find it i click on download and i have adobe, mail for exchange, qik and open office and zip manager i only got my phone today
Possibly equally important: If you hack an older copy of iPlayer to work on the 5800 over 3G as well as WiFi (no, I'm not going to say how you do that), then iPlayer doesn't display properly...
I'm not sure if this is a safeguard the BBC have somehow put in place to stop people doing this, or whether its an anomaly of the .js files, but essentially you get no CSS information (a white display and no formatting)
Having said that... it does allow you to stream content over a 3G network 😊
Is there no way to save the programs onto the memory card and watch them offline?
When you go into the iplayer (on the 5800) and click on Help it says that if you use Wi-Fi you can save them onto the phone and watch them offline but I cant find out how you can. Any ideas?
Download iPlayer video using the iPlayer downloader (duh!) from the po-ru website, and encode it to mp4 (I use VLC media player). Watch offline. Much better quality. My streaming iPlayer skips, stutters and buffers all the time (v. annoying) and that's just on wireless. Once I'm on the bus, forget it.
