5800 XM PRoduct Code change
What is the 5800XM, is it a special model? How do I find out what model I have?
"5800XM" is just a shorter way to say "Nokia 5800 XpressMusic".
Ooops I always was slow on the uptake:tongue:
Thanks for letting me in!
anyone?
help?
updating 5800 product code?
pleaseeeeeeeee
As far as I'm aware there is no way currently to change the 5800 product code.
That's unfortunate. But I guess what you guys really want is for nokia to release their firmware updates simultaneously. Maybe you should focus your energy on achieving that goal e.g. by writing lots of complaints.
I tried that when V11 wasn't released.
Nokia has a standard response that sometimes firmware updates are delayed and they refuse to provide any information beyond that.
IMHO Writing letters etc. isn't likely to force any kind of change in this.
I suspect the only way to get Nokia to pull their act together would be if this starts costing them money, and since I suspect the vast majority of users don't actually care about firmware, this would require their inaction to start generating bad publicity.
For that the media would have to start asking awkward questions but seemingly no-one with the ability to do so is interested enough to want to.
I have to disagree, because having worked at a part of a company that deals with complains ane such stuff, I know that if enough people complain about something it gets forwarded to the people in charge! Nevertheless you might still get a standard answers.
It's stupid the way Nokia fails to push their updates out to all regions. They seem to particularly bad when it comes to this with the 5800XM.
Here in South Africa, we still stuck on V10.0.010...

Yes, it is possible. My 5800 was on 10.0.010, changed code & now have 20.0 .12 😊.
But, be aware that if you change the code your phone won't be covered by warranty.
Follow the instruction's to the letter & you will be fine.
