A question I posted a few weeks ago with no reply so now I have a P800 I can answer!
Do you have MS Outlook ? (NOT Outlook Express)
You need V 98, 2000, or 2002, if you don't maybe a friend might
97 is NO GOOD
Make a backup of your revo 1st
Sync Revo with Outlook using Psiwin Sync
Then Sync Outlook with P800 for Agenda & contacts
The P800 is very different than a Revo but brilliant, buy one you wont regret it.
I have owned original psion 'Organiser', S3, S5, Revo, I prefer the P800 the screen is unbelievably good, you wont use the Revo again.
I have waited since Sept '02 for this phone with endless promises from e shop etc
I expected it to be a massive anticlimax when I eventually got one last Friday, it wasn't this phone/pda is *better* than I expected!
Buy the P800 from Orange Shop, Birkenhead had at least eight on Saturday
hope this helps
I have a Psion 5mx and am seriously looking at the P800 as an alternative as the screen on the Psion is cracked and will not last much longer.
Are there 'data' applications on the P800 - I have a few databases I would like to keep.
From what I have read I can view Word & Excel docs as e-mail attachments but does this mean I can create and edit them independently too? (like the Psion allows)
Many thanks
BB
Yeah I have a Psion 5mx in the loft somewhere, it was a great device for its time, I ended up just using a laptop instead as I wasnt happy typing with the small keypad. The P800 truly leaves it behind in my opinion, it does lack some of the features such as the office features and obviously the keyboard, but the touch screen is much more user friendly, plus you have full colour device at your fingertips which has much potential. Unfortunately there is no Office package currently available, but hopefully one will be available soon.
Yes, I would put money on it that a database 3rd party software will be released very soon
Probably from these guys http://www.epocware.com
something like Power data.
I for one can't wait as the data app on my Psions was the most used app
But to answer your question the P800 does not have a proper database app as standard that you can import *.txt files
(it does have 'contacts' for addresses)
