Transfer messages from phone to memory card - E71

I have been using my E71 for couple of months.

My messages have been stored on the E71's phone memory.
Is there a way for me to transfer the messages from phone memory to memory card?

Thanks in advance.

I have a localized language on my E71, but I'll try to explain:

When in the Messenges view (not iside text messages, but the view where you can see sms, mms, email-accounts...) press 'Options'-'Settings' and scroll down to the last pickable item (someting like 'Other'😉.
Than at the very bottom you'll find an option to store messages on card.

This goes for all messages - also emails, and the first time you switch from phone memory to card you should get a question whether you will like to transfer all messages to your MicroSD card or not...

Hope this works for you 😉

Thanks for the response!

The last item I have in "Other" is Memory In Use. It allows me to choose between using phone memory or card memory. If I switch to card memory, the messages do not get moved over from phone to card.

Am I doing this right or is there a function missing in my phone?

There are a huge number of FW versions an operator customized variants.

On my phone (norwegian) - the memory in use option asks whether I want to move my messages to card when I switch - at least the first time.

Try formatting your card (after backing it up) to see if this is the case for you too when switching for the first time...

Thanks again for your response!

How do I backup my card? Will it work if I copy all the information from my card to my computer and copy it back to the card after I format it?

I was actually thinking of backing up all info onto the memory card, resetting the phone to factory setting, then restore info from memory card, before trying to see if the phone will prompt me with that message.

However, do you know of any issue with such a method?

Sorry for the many questions. It is my first time with a Symbian phone.

actually, you dont have to back up all your info that is existed on your Phone mem to the mem card, such as phone NO. notes, etc. you can use the PC Suite for nokia, there are some functions you need. Your method about back up your card is good~cuz i have tried that way before😎 it works

Thanks for suggestion, Alexrovi!

Yes, I am beginning to realise that I need to use the PC Suite for this purpose. I have tried restoring from backup (from memory card). It restored everything I had in the phone but it does not prompt me when I changed the storage location from phone to memory card.

The problem now is that I am using a mac and my Missing Sync is having problem syncing my sms. (this is the reason I posted in the first place)

Guess I need to borrow someone's PC to try this method.
