Transferring Sound clips from 5800 to PC

6 replies · 6,794 views · Started 23 February 2009

I've had my 5800 just over a week and thanks to the tutorials here, I'm finding my way around it. I recorded some sound clips yesterday for some work I'm doing and can't find how to get them from phone to pc. In fact, I can't find them at all.

I've tried using PC suite, opening the folders and searching by date modified (yesterday) but nothing showing. I know they are there somewhere!

Googling found someone else with the problem but no solution. Can someone here help, please?

Rather ironic that the sound clips are for use in trying to persuade people working in adult education to encourage their learners to make better use of their cellphone features...if it's as difficult as it seems, I've no chance!😊

Hi,

If Nokia 5800 is compatible with Nokia Photos(It is compatible with nokia photos but i am not sure about sound clip), you can install Nokia photos on your pc and once its installed, you can sync your device with Nokia photos and make sure that sync is successful, if yes, goto timeline view of Nokia photos and check for your sound clip 😊

Nokia Photos is a desktop application from Nokia, through this you can create album, store your images, videos, sms and MMS, sound clip etc from your phone to pc 😊

If you have already used Nokia Lifeblog, its replacement for Nokia lifeblog. As you said you can goolge for Nokia photos(it must be available with the cd/dvd while you receive your device 😊 )

Thanks for the suggestion. I appreciate your help.

I'm a bit miffed that it involves installing yet another piece of software - I'm already running Nokia Music, PC suite, OVi.... But before I do that, I'll take a look in "photos".

Of course, why didn't I think to look for sound clips in "photos"?

Now to have a go and see what happens....

Ok, (talking to myself here 😊

I've found Nokia photos in Ovi and sync my phone - got photos off but no sound clips. They appear on the phone (20 of them) but nowhere to be found when looking through files etc. They ought to be on the memory card drive E, but nothing showing.

I feel I'm missing something obvious....:con?

Morning all.

I'm still hoping that some Nokia expert somewhere will be able to help me with transferring these sound files. I'll take a walk into the Vodafone store this morning but don't expect much 😎

I can find the files on the phone - at a pinch could play them from the phone - but I'd really like to get them onto my pc and edit them first if poss.

I've opened OVI on my pc and simply can't find them in any folder listed. I know they are there somewhere!!

Hey,

What exactly is the file extension of your sound files, Nokia photos can store the .amr file from phone to PC

Well, it wasn't easy, but I've done it. don't think I'll bother again though.

I've copied files on the phone to the memory card using "organise" and then "found" .amr files in "my computer" with the phone connected with usb. (thanks for the heads up to look for .amr file :icon14😊

Editing in Quicktime isn't easy....whether I can open and edit in some other program remains to be seen. I think I'll simply use a different recording device in future.🙄

As for presentation tomorrow, I'll play direct from the phone. Might plug an extra speaker in for volume, depending on the size of the audience.

Thanks for support, C.
