That's a HECK of a price difference, even allowing for the CWM premium... has Nokia Australia gone crazy? 😞

Wow...and I thought the 780SGD pricing we've having here in Singapore was a bit inflated.

Sucks to be Aussie. 😞

Yes, we get ripped off in Australia! Even when the dollar was almost on par with the US, we still got ripped off. Now it's even worse. Phones that have been out here for 6 months like the E71 have recently gone up $100! I would have liked to have gotten the 5800 but I don't want CWM so it looks like I won't be getting it. Nokia will probably release a CWM only version so they can push their crap service. No thanks.

What the Dickens is with that price?
I'm in Australia you see and happily bought an imported 5800 off Ebay for $600.
A reasonable price.
As, in every other country, the 5800 is cheaper than an iPhone, just to prove that Nokia know what they're doing.
But now when it's released in Australia, and it's basically a Thousand dollars, no one will even look at it twice. They won't note it for being "what the iphone should have been" they'll just see it as an iphone rip-off.
And since practically every phone company now in Australia have the iphone in some cost effective deal, no one in the general public will pay $1000 for "what the iphone should have been"

Silly Nokia Australia.
Even if you made it $700, at least that'd get people saying "Ooh, that looks fun"
But no, now you've lost them.
I'm just greatful I bought mine for a reasonable price, cos so far i've greeted it with yawns.
It's nice to have a touch-screen, but for for $1000.

totally agreed to above, I wouldn't mind paying $100 more expensive than on ebay, but $1000 for this phone has just lost my interest....

every new phone that is first released is always going to cost near the $1000 or more, so to say people won't be interested in this phone is a load of BS! sure the iphone is NOW at a decent cost, but still for what the iphone offers, it's still majorly overrated and overcharged! there will still be a lot of interest in the 5800 upon release and thereafter. the interest will die off, obviously when a better phone comes out. i never saw the major interest with the iphone when it first came out. firstly it offered fck all features and really, the whole touch screen etc etc is nothing new and is old technology! regardless of price, i'll be getting a 5800 til something even better comes out!
