"New Message" notification missing - N85 latest firmware

9 replies · 10,529 views · Started 26 February 2009

So after upgrading to the latest firmware on the N85, I no longer get the message that informs me of a new text or picture message on the main screen.

Before the update, clicking it would take me straight to the new message but now I have to go through Messages then inbox.

Is there a setting that I'm missing, because I cant find anything in the settings 😞

Ok, done that, now to just wait for a text.

One other thing I have noticed, is that my settings did not revert to the factory default after updating. On my previous phone, N95, it always did this. Is this a sign that the update hasnt worked correctly?

nope, didnt work. I'm on vodafone branded firmware, are there any other voda N85 users with the latest upgrade that can comment?

thats becuase the pc suite has backed everything up.
try *#7370# security code 12345
and also format&defrag ur mmc

hmm i think voda may have broken it, because it works while using their standby theme, and not any of nokias. tried it without the card in too

guess i'll be debranding then :/

also, just so you know, defragmenting any solid state memory is not recommended, as the data on it is accessed at the same speed, regardless of where abouts on the drive it is located. deframenting was invented because of mechanical hard drive speeds varying from the outer edge of the platter to the inner. 😊

Nothing to do with PC Suite. The N85 has UDP (User Data Protection) so everything is preserved during an upgrade. And about time, too!

I have the same problem......

I'm also on Vodafone, but changed the product code to Euro1 then updated the firmware to the latest version.
But now I get no new message notification nor any missed call notifications, just the symbol in the top right of the screen near the battery status.
Anyone know a way to get them back working??

Cheers
Gav

I'm also having this problem.

My firmware was 11.047 until yesterday and I hoped that updating to 30.019 would fix it but it's still the same.

I've tried everything that I've found on various forums. I don't have any sim messages, I swapped the message memory from card to phone then switched off and on , swapped back from phone to card etc etc .

It's quite annoying.
