Saving a GPS / nokia maps route

2 replies · 8,328 views · Started 01 March 2009

hi, i have nokia maps installed, but without the license, and also google maps. i have an unlimited data plan which works in my country of residence: Finland.
during the summer i will be in the UK with family, visiting family.

roaming charges for data usage may rack up heavily. is it possible to save a route, now. for example Gatwick airport to Exeter, Devon, UK.
and then use that saved route whilst in england without incurring data charges.??

obviously getting a tom tom would be also easy, but for now i don't have.

cheers

😊 Using GPS navigation will allways cost some money : whether data transfer or buying maps like TomTom . You can allso use Nokia Maploader on your PC and transfer the maps to your Phone . As far as I know , this is free for Nokia E90 . When the maps are stored in your Phone , and using A-GPS , there will be still some data transfer to get a fix . For the lowest data transfer without maps in your Phone , you can use http://www.nav4all.com , this can work without maps , giving only directions ( displaying just arrows ) and works worldwide .
The oldfashioned way is probably still the cheapest : a paper roadmap . Or digital : make a Route in Google/Nokia Maps and make Screensnaps , store them in your Phone , for later use . However this will not work with GPS navigation yet .
