ESHOP NEWS....

Hey all....
I thought that if we had a thread where we could post our correspondence with SE Eshop UK .... then that would be cool and we could update without having to (all of us) make unnecessary (and multiple) calls to the famous Justin and Emma.....
Good Idea huh?!?
that way lower phone bills and also less irritated Emma and Justin!!

Why don't you tell Emma and Justin about this thread so they can post their own updates. That would be cool 8)

They certainly read this board, and print out messages posted to it, but I doubt that they would post to it if only because there are more than a few less than patient posters here....

Given that there are a few people here who have almost certainly ordered their p800s with next day delivery, surely they will be the first to know stock availability....? Albeit 24 hours later.

To be honest I fail to see what constant nagging is going to acomplish. It certainly wont change anything.

Good idea,

I last spoke to Emma yesterday and she said it could be delivered next week. This is basically the same thing she said when I first ordered my phone at the beginning of February. For some reason they then started saying between the 17th and 24th. Then Justin said last Friday that the phones were being shipped as he had just spoken to the driver!!! So unless they are in a storeroom somewhere waiting for SE to give the go ahead who knows!

Fingers crossed that Emma is right now. But it looks like its a SE delay as Expansys and Extele have delayed theirs until next week too.

Thats what I meant, I thought if they posted a regular update here then perhaps people would stop pestering them 😊

Me and another poster who had both orderred P800's from the eshop have now bought them from Orange..

I really couldn't be bothered with the hassle and I don't regret it in the slightest. It's going to take me a week to get the thing unlocked, which isn't incredible, but I'll cope. If the eshop ones come before that, then I'll take the Orange one back.

But for now, I've got a P800, and its bloody great. 😊

Hiya,
not really Eshop news but it is related ....

That'll be me then.. 😊

In the end, I think its going to work out cheaper for me after all. I called the local orange shop yesterday, they had four handsets left out of their initial delivery of 15. I asked the chap for the cheapest way to get a P800. He said, "buy it for 199 on a high tarrif (55) you'll have to stick with that for a month, then tomorrow phone orange and swap to the data tarrif for 10/month for the remaining 11 months."

Which works out to 199 + 55 + (10 x 11) = 364

Just to keep this post on topic, I phoned the e-shop and spoke to Emma in order to cancel my sim-free order. She appologised about the problems. There was no need, its hardly her fault. I said to her that I'm sure everyone appreciates how much aggro they are getting. She said that she expects it working in a customer facing role, and that she always passed on the latest developments whenever anyone calls. Its just that they dont know any more than they are being told by SE. She also mentioned that the phones may be in next week, or maybe not.

Hope they come through soon.

Andy

Hi Andy,

I'd double check that you CAN change tariffs with Orange as there are a lot of people having problems and are being told they cant change for 3 or 4 months. You have to buy it from an Orange Direct store too apparently.

Pete.

Hi Pete,

If you buy from an independant dealer (such as OneStopPhoneShop), you're tied to your chosen tarrif for four months. Thats part of their (OneStops - not Orange's) terms and conditions. You *can* switch tarrifs, but the dealer will "clawback" the lost revenue from you, once they realize that their commision has dropped from you switching talkplan.

If you buy from an Orange shop, you can do as you like, since they dont seem to worry about the comission/clawback.

cheers
Andy

Edit: Just as an update. Called orange, and switched tarrif to the High Speed Data Plan. Woman on the phone thought that I wanted to add it to my current tarrif, making it 65 / month. I explained the errror in her ways, and will be paying 10/month from 25th March.

Andy

@ Andy

Now that u have the phone... (UK spec) ... can u post the firmware version... maybe ill do the same as you then and the get the phone unlocked so that i can use it with my vodaphone sim....

😃

What does the data plan give you, - is it unlimited net browsing or something? or do they charge per kb on top of that....??

thanx

L

Hi,

Can you tell me what the 55 tarriff is called ?

I am seriously considereing destering to Orange.

Thanks

All,

Apparently the SE Eshop are meant to be getting deliveries of the P800 on Tuesday the 4th but time will tell. This is meant to be confirmed this afternoon sometime.

@L
Allows you to make data calls at higher speeds. There are no inclusive minutes. Take a look here: http://www.orange.co.uk/talkplans/hscsd/ for details.

@CarlHunt
55 quid plan is called "Your Plan 400"

Andy

Andy,

Many thanks,

I defected from Expansys SIM-Free yesterday after they
were unable to commit, that and it works out cheaper to
follow your route through Orange.

Am going to take weeks to fathom all the functionality of
MY 😃 P800 but have been very impressed so far.

Just need to follow the thread on unlocking ......

Not meaning to but it, but Phones4U have some in at 200 + 25 per month 120 anytime minutes.
No insurance required.
I went to an orange shop and was quoted 250 + 30 pm or 300 + 25 but I must also pay 5 for insurance.
Mind you 5 for insurance for this is ridiculously cheap.

Now where is that unlocking thread....

Thats 5 a month you know? Not a one off payment.
If after 1 month you drop down to the Data Plan its 10 a month and that includes the insurance I believe

And as a further twist it appears as though you don't have to have the Talktime 400 for even a month if you purchase direct from Orange.

I have managed to change it after 24 hours.

This appears to be associated with my billing period
as I asked to be invoiced for up to the 28th of each
month.

Looks like a total cost of 335

plus the cost of unlocking, of course.

Once again, where's that unlocking thread .....

Hiya,

I have just phoned Orange and they said that you cannot change tariffs for 4 months and I asked if you can through Orange Direct and she said no, its still a 4 month clause.

Whatever tariff you get through Orange the total cost for the handset and monthly payments will be the same (if you get the cheap price for handset and expensive tariff changing to lowest tariff in 4 months or if you get the expensive price for the handset and cheapest tariff for 12 months)

So some people are probably lucky to be able to change their tariffs after 24hours/1 month. Probably served by incompetent customer service/store assistants.

Zoidy.

Guess some of us are just lucky 😃

Interesting to see however that - as repoted in the Register -
some places are offering the P800 for 50 + contract
which once you do the sums over a year works out
at about the same ( 330 ) as I paid changing my contract
through Orange.

Hallo.. thought i'd revive this one..
spoke to eshop... they say sometime in the comming two weeks...
(do i sound lifeless... I think ive lost all hope....)

if anyone hears any different... or if anyone would like to cheer me on in telling me how immensley great their P800 has been to them... then please do.....

come on SE please hurry up!!!

nrs5

Just got off the phone with SE Eshop, and guess what... they can confirm a day of release for the P800 as this thursday... and im really excited... fingures crossed
