Ive recently installed BirdSteps SmartConnect onto my silver and black, original firmware, E71-1 on the UK T-Mobile network. Seemingly since then Im seeing the occasional double-headed arrow at the top left of the screen within the signal meter when the device has connected using the GPRS or UTMS modem. Im supposing that this means something like a shared connection but theres no mention of it in my handbook and although I dont remember seeing this notification before installing SmartConnect, I also dont remember what I had for supper on Sunday evening!
Double Headed Arrows
I don't think SmartConnect is for sharing the connection (I may be wrong, though). If you want to use you mobile 3G modem with your notebook, you may want to use JoikuSpot (freeware).
Also, check the SmartConnect FAQ http://www.birdstep.com/Products/Birdstep/SmartConnect/SmartConnect-FAQ/
Ah, what I meant was that two or more applications are sharing the internal SmartConnect connection, not that SmartConnect is for sharing a connection external to the device.
Having looked at it and watched what happened, I think it means that there are multiple connections active - one the SmartConnect and the other being the active connection.
