Ah. Merely days after dismissing Fring (VoIP, Skype, other IM, etc) as not ready for inclusion in my 'top freeware for the Nokia 5800' piece, the guys in Israel go and formally release it! C'est la vie, and you can be sure that Fring will make the next iteration of my roundup. In the meantime, here's Fring's official blog announcing availability. And there's a video after the break. What are you waiting for, go download...

What's happening to Nokia Download! ?? It's metamorphising as I write this.
Actually I have been beta testing Fring for about 3 or 4 weeks and it is okay. If you only need Skype for calling, you can sign-up for the:Skype to Go service. This works virtually anywhere in the world, and saves the hassle of installing software.
Great except where he shows a Fring "Call". He doesn't actually go through with the call to show us how appalling the connection and call quality always is.
Still, top for IM on S60
I've been using fring from 1.5 yrs now (first on 6630) and now on N95. I make regular calls to India using skype and gtalk and both work exceptionally well
I mostly use wi-fi now, since they blocked fring on 3g. But it was pretty good on 3g too.
@Rushi,
There is a way around the block now. You can set up a Skype to Go account and dial a local number. The operators can not block this as it appears to be a normal local call.
download! on 5800 as had a face lift it now also works faster and much more bug free but the big news is APPS you have installed now have a upgrade available status under them if updates available
there is lot more content now but most is premium stuff
if u have got zip manager installed go to download > APPS scroll to zip manager it now says upgrade available under it
@unregistered: not their fault if your connection isn't fast enough :P fring sounds great for me.
Also, weird at the Download comments, it did offer a zip manager upgrade to me too, 1.00(0) to 1.00(0) lol
and it's offering Kanye West's Heartless in the what's hot folder, blasphemy! (But what's with it having a 1 plan coupon price?)
anyone mastered at symbian, please reply to this.
