Are you guys experiencing problems with spyware? Those little ads and other thingies that creep into your PC while you're surfing? First you hardly notice anything, then the ads start popping out and finally everything gets real slow.
I just spend two hours cleaning my system, used three different software, rebooted numerous times and I'm clean for now (I think...).
But I'm 100% certain that by next week I'll have to do it all over again. Irritating
But how could I ever stay away from the net? 😉
Have you tried ZoneAlarm from ZoneLabs? It's free and works a treat.
Also, an idea is to find out where these applications reside on your system, delete them then create your own text files with the same name as the executables you've just deleted and mark them as Read Only. Also, mark the folders they're in as Read-Only.
I've crippled many a  critter like this.
I have it installed!
It's real good...trust me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😉
I know, I know. I had it earlier, but we have like 6 computers at home, switches and routers and stuff and it all got so complicated. We never got the settings right although there are separate settings for intranet and internet. It was a mess. Now everything works fine, exept for the spyware...
try ad-aware it will remove "all" spyware
As dazler mentioned, try Ad Aware software from Lavasoft. You can find it www.lavasoft.de. Its free, and does the job you are looking for. Otherwise you could as well install Zone Alarm, its also free and is vvery good protection program.

I use zoneAlarm and ad-ware. Easiest thing is to just put a linux pc as firewall and router between your computers Laura 😉 net to linux to network. It's easier to conifgure 1 firewall instead of 6 😊
I use a dedicated NAT firewall to protect me from crap from the net, it's so good that even though I've tried to set up a machine as a web server and told the firewall to let stuff through to that machine on the right ports it refuses to let it through. At least I'm secure though.
