E51 Virus?

Hi all

I was hoping someone on this forum could help. Nokia and O2 havn't been able to help.

At the weekend all my contacts were overwritten by 255 contacts from an unknown person. My contacts were deleted completely and all that were left were these 255 contact details for complete strangers.

I had my phone on me at all times. i have never swapped the SIM with anyone. Bluetooth is not enabled (and never has been). I received no MMS messages and no strange emails.

Does anyone know how this is possible? A virus of somekind or a network security breach. Everyone I speak to has no idea!

Thanks in advance.

Dan

Do you sync your contacts with any services? maybe Mail for Exchange, or Google?

What contact details did you have? was it just Name and one Number? (that might suggest something with the SIM)

Did anything else change? did you lose text messages, or calendar appts for instance?

Thanks for the reply. Yes it was just the contacts and just the name and number. My contacts are synced with exchange and this overwrote all of them (I know it wasn't a problem with Exchange as I am the Exchange admin).

My phone was lost a couple of months ago. Is it possible that the person who 'found' it, is using it which caused this problem? O2 say they disabled the SIM, but who knows?

Thanks

Dan

defo sounds like a sync issue...

has it stopped now? Did you look for any of those names on the exchange contacts?

Did you try calling the new numbers in the phone?? 😉
