Check the following:-

Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Positioning > Positioning methods ... ensure that Assisted GPS, Integrated GPS and Network based are ticked then go Back and select Positioning server and make sure that Access point is defined and Server address is supl.nokia.com

Hope this helps.

Only thing I can suggest is that you delete the folder "cities" using file manager then reboot your phone and try to get a lock that way with Maps. It should then recreate your "cities" folder for you. You will then need to reconnect to Map Downloader via your PC and redownload any maps you have deleted in "cities".

i went into the download app and installed the update for maps. i got a lock within 2mins which is better than nothing i suppose. the only thing i hate is i now have to pay to have any routes calculated. i used to use the tracking option n followed the route myself without the navigation. is there a way i can get the old version of maps back so i can have that option again?

try leaving it for 10 mins against a windowsill or better yet, go outside and walk around, with the slider fully down at 45 degrees.
The first time after a hard reset or upgraded f/w, it took me around 10 mins.

It should only take that long as it's an initial first time lock.

After that I disabled all the GPS's apart from the iGPS(which does not charge data-free)
and it locks within 5~10 secs.

hope this helps
