Hi all
I have started getting a problem with my 5800 where the screen 'breaks up'.
By this I mean that the graphics on the screen are completely garbled and unreadable. Sometimes when you slide the lock switch on and off the screen refreshes and becomes readable again, but this is becoming more and more random.
I've tried removing all the extra programs I had running (Handy Shell, LiteSignal Plus and Smart lite) but this has made no difference.

Anyone got any ideas??
Also, I'm still getting random numbers in the top right corner, as posted here..

HELP!!:con?
that looks like a faulty unit - return it for a repair
Hi all,
I have same problem with screen.
What intersting, that I also used similar programs managing home screen Handy Shell and Tektronic Light On.
I bought my phone from other country and the option "return it for a repair" is not for me...
I still suspect that issue in some part of operation system managing home screen.
All known steps like complete reset and even upgrade to last version V.20 I've done. The problem is still here.
Any guru may help?:con?
Update -
I have since found that the problem is temperature related.
If I have the phone in my pocket for a while it doesn't happen, but if I leave it on my desk, within a couple of minutes the problem is back. If I then warm the phone up by putting it back in my pocket or cupping it in my hands then the problem goes.
Gotta be hardware related I reckon - any thoughts?
I have contacted the suppliers who have told me to send the phone back but I can't yet cos I'm waiting for an unlock code for my old N95 so I can put my SIM in there.....D'oh!
I'll update as necessary.....
Contrary to my previous post - the temperature doesn't now seem to make a difference. No matter what I do, when the screen blanks it's impossible to ungarble it.
The strange thing is, when I power the phone off (which I have to do every time I get a text - d'oh!), the screen ungarbles and shows the white screen with the nokia logo in the middle, just before it powers down.
Again, when I power back up, the screen is fine, and if I run Smart Light to keep the screen lit, it will stay ungarbled all day. The minute I slide the keylock switch though, that's it - garble city!
Very weird!! Anyway, I'm sending the phone back today as I've managed to borrow a 6310i from my mate - STILL waiting for the unlock code for my N95 from Orange!! Slow ass gits - cost me 20 quid too!
Will update as and when.....

If you bought it in the EU, you can return it for repairs in any EU country.
happens to me too, but not so violent, i get the hue-change problem. but i notice that whenever it happens, i just lock n unlock screen and its gone. i'm thinking this is a software defect of some sorts.
...but obviously not - found this...

and there are 7 pages of people with the same fault.
There is a temporary workaround listed there which involves activating the camera, covering the lens with your finger then uncovering it - the sudden brightness causes the screen to come back to life.
Might be of some use to be able to back up stuff before returning for repair, but no long term use as the problem is sure to get worse.
Mine's wingin its way to Nokia as we speak, so watch this space....
i sent mine back as well... lets see what they do with it.......hoping for a quick fix
